THINKING OF PIERCING YOUR EAR(S)?  If you plan on participating in Norwich Recreation team sports (Soccer, Basketball, Lacrosse), then SUMMER is the BEST time to do this.  No Jewelry is allowed to be worn by players in these sports.  Since 'studs' need to stay permanently in place for about 6 weeks after piercing, early summer is the ideal time to do it. It is extremely difficult & painful to get studs out and many officials won't make an exception in this situation, leaving a player with the choice of trying to remove them or not playing in the game.

Non-Residents accepted if no program is offered in their town, but there is an additional $5 non-resident fee     PLEASE bring your own size 3 or 4 ball to practice.  Lots of skills practice through a variety of stations and games designed for maximum individual ball handling.  Learn the basics of the game and scrimmage in mini games with classmates.   T-shirt purchase optional for K.  Our 1st & 2nd Grade teams may take part in some scrimmages and/or a jamboree so a royal blue Norwich T-shirt may be needed.  You can buy one later in the season if desired.  More Assistants NEEDED.  You can ‘volunteer to work with a team' by signing up on-line, or talk to the coach in charge.

Our program includes skill development, drills stressing individual improvement, learning the mechanics and rules of the game, as well as '6 vs. 6' games for grades 3/4 and '8 vs. 8' games for grades 5/6.  Playing neighboring towns will be part of the fun.  For 3/4 games, each team will be split in half and will play 2 ‘small field’ games. We need many parent volunteer assistants & refs.  Contact your child's coach to help.

PLEASE bring a Size 4 Ball & water bottle to practice.  Cleats are helpful but not mandatory.  Mouth protectors ($2 at Rec. office) & shin guards are highly recommended.   HOME games will often be during the scheduled practice times or Saturdays, but away games may be anytime. Please try not to over-schedule, resulting in missed practices and games.  If one has to miss, we ask that players let coaches know as far in advance as possible.  Every child consistently attending practice should play equitably in games. Our emphasis is on fun and developing individual skills, self-confidence & team spirit.   A few more notes…
